About Me
==========================================================
Originally a pianist, brought up in Madrid and London England, he developed his creative interests at an early age, and began to compose at age six. If the seeds of a refined art had been planted by a high-class british education, the social reaction to this inadequate and stifling climate did not take a long time : in 1998 he returns to Montreal to begin a remarkably bohemian existence. He has tackled contemporary music (Symphony no. 1 "Resistance", op.10, Les Americains Brefs "The Brief Americans" (opera), op.16, some lieder), improvisation (from cafes to municipal cultural establishments, on piano, organ, harpsichord and 16th-tone piano), new music and rock (with bands Concorde Crash, Nguyen Ultra and Eiffel Cul), painting (some of his works are displayed hereby), poetry (Faux Nord "False North", Recueil du Sherpa "The sherpa's book"), novels (Du Terrorisme Baroque "On Baroque terrorism", Rhetorique de l'Incandescence "Rhetoric of Incadescence"), radio (the show La Seconde Mineure "The Minor 2nd") and political happenings (Soirees Lacrymogenes "Tear-gas nights" of 2001-02, Cabaret Sarbacane of 2006). Since 2005, he studies composition at the Conservatoire de Musique de Montreal under Michel Gonneville, and writes pieces for students there (Music for a Student strike, op.19, Le Parcours de Naunet "The journey of Naunet", op.21, Naos, op.23). Frans Ben Callado is also dangerously attracted to maieutics, and remains very edgy with car-drivers...In 2007, he publishes his first book of poetry (Visages apres laverse "Faces after the storm", very badly translatable) through the Montreal publishers Poetes de Brousse.
