About Me

I started producing my own electro music in about late 1994, with a Roland U20 keyboard (eight part multi-timberaral, no less) and an Amiga computer running MusicX. How things have changed? Back then a half decent sampler would knock you back about two grand......
Still, since there was no other way at that time, I saved to buy the gear I wanted until I eventually ended up with a decent rack of outboard gear, a 24 channel mixing desk and PC running Logic Audio.
Like I say, things have changed drastically since then and, whilst my mixing desk is all but redundent these days, I've still got most of my hardware synths and FX units. I probably wouldn't get a fraction their worth if I were to sell them second hand and, to be honest, they still sound great when recorded directly into my DAW.
So, at the moment, my studio is a kind of hybrid, with both hardware and software. I didn't like the, all-in-the-box sotware solution at first because I thought the sound was a tad harsh and cold. But technology is advancing fast and some of the modern software EQ and compressor emulations sound sweet to my aging ears, especially with dedicated DSP cards. The Plate reverb on my UAD-1 card sounds way better than the early native digital efforts of a few years ago.
So what next? Well I'm looking at the very newest soft/hard dsp technologies. The Focusrite Liquid Mix channel strips look interesting. But so does PowerCore and FX Teleport.
Anyway, as you can see, music and music production is my life. I will never stop trying to improve on the quality of sound and content of my music. Feel free to stick around a while, have a listen, leave a comment if you like, tell me what you think or just say hi.
