Nena Kelli was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. At the age of 10 she had her own school talk show entitled "Nena's Hour." She was also the Mistress of Ceremonies for nearly every school production through 8th grade. Although she excelled academically and had been bitten by the acting bug, Nena dealt with adversities that many other children in low-income communities face daily. This included not meeting her father until she was eleven. She knew that her career as an adult would somehow help children.
While attending Georgia State University receiving a degree in Psychology, Nena studied theater. She was torn between her passion to give back through therapy and her love for the arts. Nena worked in occupational health management for one of the most desirable employers in the world for seven years before walking away to get back to both of her great loves.
The culmination of learning about adolescent development and learning styles, commanding the attention of and connecting with every audience, working seamlessly with everyone from janitors to executives and just remembering what it’s like to feel like the only child to ever experience such pain, have all prepared her for her latest roles, children’s advocate and author. She is also a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)
Her big screen debut came in Tyler Perry’s 2006 blockbuster, "Madea's Family Reunion." She is currently involved in several productions.
The first installment in the So What book series will be released in early 2009.
