A recent graduate of Berklee College of Music, Rebecca is a rising star. Originally from Nova Scotia, Canada, since coming to the U.S to study she has racked up an impressive list of credits, most recently boasting work with Grammy-winning producer George Massenburg and Grammy-winning superstar Linda Ronstadt, a live duet with rocker Steve Winwood (view at: http://berklee.boston.tv/BERKLEE.htm?pid=NfNF69CqNfl7mrykPwQ
7oJs4to49O4Xg), and a performance of the national anthem at Fenway Park.Rebecca has also shared the stage with Gloria Estefan, Herbie Hancock and Paul Simon in Berklee’s 60th Anniversary Concert, with Christopher Guest, and Canadian chart-toppers k-os and The New Pornographers. Add to that performances for the legendary funk band Tower of Power, Melissa Etheridge, The Edge – lead guitarist from U2, and renowned producer Phil Ramone, you've got one impressive resume. She is regularly featured on the Berklee Performance Center stage and has appeared in many of the college’s biggest shows, including Singer’s Showcase, Convocation, Commencement, the Stevie Wonder Tribute Concert, Berklee Jazz Cafe at Symphony Hall, and was most recently a featured artist on Berklee's just-released Heavy Rotation Records compilation CD. She has also done session work for Mark Simos (Allison Krauss cuts) and travels regularly with the college for various conferences, gigs and engagements, joining her professors as a peer on stage. In addition to a substantial entering student scholarship, Rebecca has twice been awarded the Blink Music Scholarship*, and was recently awarded Berklee’s Yo Team Scholarship for outstanding musical and academic achievement. She is currently performing her original material with her 7-piece funk band throughout New England, and travels to New York and L.A. from time to time for acoustic gigs. Her debut, self-produced EP is slated for release in the Spring of this year.Born to musician parents, Rebecca sang as soon as she could talk. As a child, she performed anytime an opportunity presented itself, doing musical theatre and writing and gigging with her high school band. At 17 she began performing professionally with many musicians in the east coast Canadian circuit, over the years doing everything from dance bands to other artists’ original projects. She has performed or recorded with with many successful Canadian artists: Matt Mays & El Torpedo (Juno* -nominated, ECMA* , Classified, Dutch Mason (Juno, ECMA, Canadian Jazz & Blues Hall of Fame, Order of Canada), Garrett Mason (Juno), Lennie Gallant (Juno-nominated, ECMA), Bruce Guthro (ECMA) Theresa Malenfant (ECMA), and Matt Minglewood (ECMA).* Blink Music is a Cambridge, MA-based studio. It is considered New England’s most extensive full-service recording and production studio.
