My name is Kayla Calabrese and I'm an 18 year old aspiring country singer from New Jersey! :-) I can also play the guitar and the drums. I love singing I don't know what I'd do without it! I have a vocal coach named Sal Dupree. (he has also coached Bianca Ryan, Tiffany Evans, Pink, etc.). He has helped me so much in such a short period of time it's amazing! I definately wouldn't be where I am today without all of his help.
I have only been singing for 2 and a half years, but I always knew I wanted to do it... when I was younger I would tape myself singing and then erase it before my parents got home. The day I saw Wicked on broadway I told my mom that I wanted to take voice lessons. I have been singing ever since!
I have performed in many places including recently winning the NJ101.5 Talent Contest, The Colgate Country Showdown, TRHSS, The Music Academy, High Velocity, and many more! My goal is to be a Famous Country Recording Artist and perform at the Grand Ole Opry and anywhere else I can in Nashville.
My parents are very supportive of me and helping me pursue my dream. My dad has given up so much just to make sure I am headed in the right direction. We have been through so many tough times already and none of them have brought us down. That's why I know I will be able to make it in this business. I have a twin brother and a 14 year old brother. I can count on my family and friends for anything. My friends have been here for me through out everything. I honestly don't think I would have made it this far with out all of their love and support.
I recently took my first trip to Nashville. It was AMAZING! I got to stand on the infamous circle at the Grand Ole Opry. My dream is to actually sing on it! While in Nashville I realized that I wanted to succeed in this business more than anything! I can't see myself doing anything else. As much as I want to, I just can't. I want my chance to sing on the Opry stage and go on tour. It's a dream of mine I hope doesn't fade for a long time. :-)
I am currently recording a demo at Right Touch Studios in Atlantic City. Kit Worton is the engineer there and we are writing songs to add to the originals needed for my demo. When my demo is complete I plan to go to Nashville and see what I can to to further pursue my dream. I hope someone will believe in me enough down there to either sign me or help market me in a way so that I can achieve my goals.
Well let my know what you think of my music! I will try to post some videos soon!
