About Me

Bill draws on a wide variety of musical influences to express what is important to him: love, spiritual growth, relationships, hope, friendship and laughter, among others. He likes to laugh and has a light-hearted approach to life that is reflected on stage. “My songs touch a wide range of emotions, so my audience may laugh in one song and shed a tear in the next. But the negative is not my calling. There’s enough anger and fear in the world without me stirring things up. I’d rather sing a song that opens the heart.Bill has performed in clubs, colleges, festivals, private concerts and seminars for several decades. Along the way, he has entertained audiences across the 48 states and Canada, as well as in Alaska, Europe, Australia and even Africa, and has opened for John Sebastian, Robert Cray, Nick Lowe and Delbert McClinton, among others. He has appeared at Nashville’s Bluebird Café, Amsterdam’s Paradiso Night Club and Seattle’s Northwest Folklife Festival, as well as performed live on radio stations from Kodiak, Alaska to Tampa, Florida. He is currently working on a double CD, “Heart and Soul”, to be released later this year.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: http://www.WeAreSoul.com
Band Members: Right now, just me.
Influences: So many! Where do I begin?Musically speaking, the Beatles, Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Emitt Rhodes, Grateful Dead, Allman Bros., Cowboy, Eric Clapton, Van Morrison, Moody Blues, Garth Brooks, John Prine, Steve Goodman and about 300 more, some of which I may add later. I like most every kind of music and recognize that musical style is not an indication of quality. I like music that opens my heart, lifts me up, makes me feel good, has a positive message. I don't care for depression-based music or music that promotes dysfunction. I don't mind if it's loud, unless that's all it has going for it. I like melody. I like passion. I like risk-taking. I like music that is gonna change my world for the better. As for other influences that inform my music, Eckankar, Harold Klemp and Paul Twitchell are high on the list. Also several years experience performing for seniors (over 1500 performances), from those who were still active and full of life, to those affected by dementia or Alzheimer's Disease, and even those who were literally at death's door and passed away a day or two after I saw them. They taught me how powerul music really is and offered countless examples of how the right song, sung with Love, can open the heart like nothing else. I will always be grateful for that. And last but not least, my wife, Deborah, whom I have seen demonstrate Unconditional Love more times than I can count, to strangers and friends in times of need. I will always be grateful for her, as well.
Sounds Like: Well, I know who I like and who has influenced me, but I truly have no idea who I might sound like. So take a listen and then email me or make a comment and tell me. I need a clue. ;^)
