We say grace and we say Amen. If you ain't into that, we don't give a damn. - Hank Williams, Jr.
..
growing up southern is a privilege, really. it's more than where you're born, it's an idea and state of mind that seems imparted at birth. its more than loving fried chicken, football, beer, and country music. its being hospitable and devoted to screened porches, magnolias, red velvet cake, coca-cola... and each other. we don't become southern- we're born that way. ~hank williams, jr.
a southern girl is a girl who knows full and well that she can open a door for herself but prefers for the gentleman to do it because it demonstrates a sense of respect. after all, every girl wants to be treated like a princess. we know how to make sweet tea, grits and killer fried chicken, while swigging down a beer with the boys watching football. we pick our battles and fight with the heart of a pit bull while still maintaining grace and elegance. our mystique is that of a soft-spoken, mild-mannered southern bell who could direct an army, loves her momma and will always be daddy's little girl. my daddy may be gone, and there might not be much elegance or grace in me for that matter, but southern i am, born and bred that way.
in the south, the breeze blows softer...neighbors are friendlier, nosier, and more talkative. a southerner never uses one word when ten or twenty will do. this is a different place. our way of thinking is different, as are our ways of seeing, laughing, singing, eating, meeting and parting. our walk is different, as the old song goes, our talk and our names. nothing about us is quite the same as in the country to the north and west. what we carry in our memories is different too, and that may explain everything else.

My Interests

Ok, I have finally bought a house and am as settled as the Marine Corps can let us be. Alot of you know that I have tried to go to college here and there over the past MANY years. Something always got in my way, like no day care, or moving to often however, most of the time it was just myself. I started taking courses when I was 18, only a couple, and the next college a couple there, and so on and so forth. Well I have accumilated enough points now, that I am within reaching distance of my degrees. So a very good friend of mine has helped to comvince me to return to school and indeed finish. I have applied to the local community college to grab the five courses I need to get the transfer degree. I have also applied to UNCW and hope to start there next fall, and should graduate the following winter 2010, 2011 which ever the grad date will be. So everyone wish me luck, and hope that one day, I will indeed be able to put all of the english, computer, and writing classes to good use. For what? Of course I will start writing, and trying to get published, however, I am still not sure about anything else I would want to do. Perhaps work for the Globe, or a local magazine, Perhaps then I may even be motivated enough to apply to the Watson School of education and get my graduate degree, and teach.. Nahhh, I doubt it. So again WISH ME TONS OF LUCK.

I'd like to meet:

Well I am sure there are many people in this world that I would enjoy meeting. However, how many of us can say, with honesty, that you have already met one of the VERY most important people in your life... That person that you automatically know that there is no way you could ever go through life without them, well, I have.. In August of 1998, Summer, the night I met her, at a bar no less, we became friends, and she has been my best friend from that day forward. She means the world to me, and I would not want to go through this life without her. There are times when life gets in the way of us talking to one another, but never does it get in the way of our friend ship. She may not be my sister through birth, but she is none the less, my beloved sister.

Movies:

Movies? Hmm I would have to say that My taste in movies varies from day to day. I love all Of the Star Wars. Anything Scifi, or Vampyre in Nature. I am a sucker for a good chick flick like, How to lose a guy in 10 days. I love Sandra Bullock, Vin Diesel, Johnny Depp, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman.. Then of course we have our older movies with Frank, the ratpack, Shirley Temple, Danny Kaye (the inspector General, to damned funny).. The Knights Tale is the one movie I can put in and watch while I go to sleep. My husbands is Tombstone.. Cheers!

Books:

There is a series by Steven King, mm the only books I have ever read by him that I love. The Dark Tower Series... I also love Jane Austin, Henry James, Nora Roberts, Kathleen Gear, Micheal Gear, Jean M Auel...and of course the classics like: Catcher and the Rye, Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Corridor of storms, The mamoth Hunters, Clan of the cave bear...The chronicles of Narnia, Lord of the Rings, and The End Times Series.. So many more too, but I shall just leave it at this, I am an avid book reader, and find peace in reading..

Heroes:

My Husband, the men and women that he has fought along side, and the ones that take over the fight when he comes home.
