Next Movement started as an events company based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Headed by Lesedi Rudolph and Kambani Chamane, the company has since expanded into an all round Media and Entertainment Company, with the recent birth of Movement Music, their record label opened in partnership with Stethoscope.
Movement became a household name on the Joburg club scene in 2003, with the infamous Movement events at Carfax that saw internationals such as house sensations Kaskade (Om Records) and Harrison Crump (Subliminal Records) from the USA, and Hip Hop legends Tim Westwood and Turntablist World Champ DJ Woody from the UK, and Boogie Bimps and Boris Duglosch from Germany, all playing on South African shores for the first time
The Carfax events set new standards in the industry with a floor catering for each genre, which made for some of the most memorable events to ever take place at the legendary venue, and could anyone forget the “One Love†series that fused Stand Up Comedy into a party environment, which played host to the special guest from Def Comedy Jam, Corry “Zoo Man†Miller (USA) in its final instalment
2004 saw Movement host over 50 events nationally, in an effort to provide their patrons with only the best night life entertainment. Events were hosted at Sutra, Groove Bar, Carfax, Color Bar, Trance Sky, 88’s, Mo Café, Bar Code, Urban Note (Joburg) Opium, Purgatory, Deluxe, Voodoo Lounge, Sutra (Cape Town) Pop Art Café, Cloud 9, Ice, Coyote Bar and Rooftop Parking Lot (Umhlanga/ Durban) to name but a few of the venues through out the country Movement events have taken place
And not forgetting the most highly anticipated event of the calendar in 2004, the infamous Miller Movement International Ft. Alexkid, hosted over 5 venues along Grant Avenue, which made headlines across the country. Over an estimated 8000 party goers arrived on Grant Avenue Norwood in the hopes of seeing the legendary Alexkid (France), at an event that was strictly limited to 2500 people. The event sold out within an hour of opening doors, and a street carnival type party continued for all those that didn’t make it in doors
Next Movement has been responsible for various other productions such as UK brand “Best Kept Secret†Johannesburg events, and the sold out Real Estate Agents album launch, African Dope party featuring Interlope (France) at Color Bar
Next Movement Media has been responsible for running media campaigns for sponsors such as Axe, Miller (SAB), Red Bull and Levi’s whilst working together with media firms such as Ogilvy and Speakers Corner
