BIOGRAPHY : THE BRAINCHILD Chris, Max and Smash met in November 2004 and performed together as the covers band "What's Next", whilst writing and recording. It was during this collaboration that they realised their potential as an orginal band. The BRAINchild was born ~ Work It Out for Yourself ~ their debut demo album was released 2005 and soon after Franky Frullone joined the band and what a result!CHRIS DOWLING - Guitar & Vocals UK born, Chris learnt his guitar skills at the age of 10 from Marc Bolan and went on to play his first professional gig at 15, when he supported Sparks in front of a crowd of 1.000 people. Since then he has played professionally with several bands and has supported artists such as Tina Turner, Rod Stewart, Joe Cocker and Queen.SMASH O'NEIL- Drums & Vocals Born in Waterford, Eire, Smash gave up football for music at 16. After playing with various top Midlands bands he worked with Robert Plant (Honeydrippers) and Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac), before moving to London to form 'Idle Flowers', and has since toured America and Europe. MASSIMO AVELLANO (MAX) - Bass Max started playing bass at 18 and after performing several live gigs, moved to London in 2000, where he has continued session work, including large festival gigs.FRANKY FRULLONE - Guitar Franky emerged from the band and club scene to work with one of Italy's biggest stars Edouardo Bennato as guitar player, arranger and producer. He spent 10 years touring with Edouardo and making television appearances all over the world. During this time he recorded 6 major albums on various labels with Edouardo. He came to England in 2004 working on various single projects until he joined Brainchild in 2005. Since that time he has proved himself to be a virtuoso player and Chris amongst many others thinks he's the 'bollocks'.The Brainchild is very pleased to be now finally working with Franky in the studio on their first definitive mastered album 'Conversational Tennis' due to be released early in 2009. DOMINIC BON DE SOUSA (The Count), saxophonist (and architect!), met and started playing with Chris & the boys in 2006. Dom has played music all his life from aged 7 when he was at the Royal College of Music tootling Mozart on the clarinet. Played saxophones with some famous and some infamous! people over many years and had big hit record with band called Goldie up in Newcastle which went top 5 UK and to no 1 in 9 countries around the globe. Music has always been his 1st love and for 4 years, in the mid 80's, during a sabbatical from architecture, he was head of A&R for a main record label. From the day he met Chris and the band he instantly knew that this was the most talented outfit of writers and musicians he had met for 20 years or more. Great believer & still learning the fine musical art of 'less is more'!!' Dom says 'If ME & MY MATE doesn't get radio airplay I'll eat all my 4 horns!!!' Influences:The Brainchild - Single - Me & My Mate 'Me & My Mate' is the debut single release from London five-piece The Brainchild; taken from the soon to be released album, 'Conversational Tennis', 'Me & My Mate' is a mid-paced, nu-punk tinged pop-rocker with a certain British swagger.Latter-day Jam-like, Weller-esque if you will, in its fresh-faced, realistic appeal and a little rockin' Small Faces-like in its guarded but gritty content, 'Me & My Mate' has a quirky commerciality - a bit like McFly meets Green Day to compare to contemporary 'stars'. There's nothing at all pretentious about The Brainchild; regular, everyday guys writing about what they see rather than what they believe and playing with seriously mature professionalism.Only us Brits can make music like this; people's music, no-frills, business-like, street poetry put to well crafted 'scores'. 'Me & My Mate' and its 'B' side, 'Kingmaker' both benefit from elevated db levels - the volume only emphasising the band's punchy, toe-tappin' style. The Brainchild's somewhat controlled ebullience is infectious and, loaded with radio-friendliness, the boys should get plenty of air-play to promote their battlecry and their cause.'Me & My Mate' by The Brainchild is crackin' single to kick-start The Brainchild's assault on the pop charts. The Brainchild have been canny with these two songs, preferring to keep their attack well within the bounds of playability, not too showy or over-dubbed, just well thought out rockin' realism. Should do well and see The Brainchild movin' on up!Peter J Brown aka toxic pete (www.toxicpete.co.uk)
