The Doom Patrol is composed of four very distinct individuals with impossibly wide-ranging influences- Prince, Nine Inch Nails, Stevie Wonder, Nirvana, AC/DC, Queen, Seal, and Jamiroquai to name a few. And yet the quartet has been able to form a cohesive unit with the one thing they all agree is missing in most bands- True Originality. The band, which shares its name with a DC comic book, features Jesse Brewster (guitar) the politically-minded, hyper-focused son of hippies who is currently a spokesman for the PKD Foundation ; Ryan Low (drums) a multi-lingual, motorcycle riding, gun-enthusiast born to a traditional family in Chinatown, SF; Uriah Duffy (bass) the free-thinking, world traveling, artistic son of a former stripper and self-described bass ho; and frontman Trance Thompson (lead vocals, keys) the outspoken, sexually obsessed, preachers kid from Oklahoma who has garnered rave reviews across the country as a dancer, actor and singer.
Given the diversity of the Bay area in general, this band just seems to makes sense. They encompass a lot of whats cool about Northen California - the sound, the look, the vibe; all of it has that open, experimental Frisco attitude.
