This is from Jason his brother, I want everyone to celebrate the great qualities of Josh and become better people because of himThere are no words that can be said to fully honor my brother Josh. To everyone that knows him this does not seem real. This great person was taken from us at the young age of 19. Simply put he was a child who had a huge heart and had only the best intentions. Whether it was meant to be or not, the ear to ear smile he possessed was his way of shedding joy to all that were around him. Josh was the definition of selfless. He was the best friend I could ever ask for. He lived his life through his music, and he lived his life to ensure happiness and protection for his family and friends. His music was his way to express his inner most feelings. His music was the way that he defined his spirit and Josh’s music gave him the ability to evaluate himself, an ability that most can not cope with. Energetic, passionate, competitive, intelligent, enthusiastic, emotional, artistic and beautiful are just a few words that describe him. My brother had many obstacles in his short life; he never gave up and did his best to overcome. In this situation questions constantly pop up that will never have any answers, it is hard to stop asking them. But we all must ignore these and ask ourselves questions like: how can we help each other to move forward and how can we celebrate this special individual’s life. Everybody I see here today I consider to be friends and I open the doors to our home to you. I know that my Mom, sister and I will need all of you to help commemorate the life of Josh. Even if you are Josh’s friend and you do not know the rest of us, please be our friends, we need you. Just because he may not be with us physically does not mean that he is not with us in spirit. I ask each and every one of you to think of all the great qualities this young man displayed and try to apply them yourself, keep him close to your heart. This will make him proud to see the great impact that he can and will make. The unfortunate thing about times like this is everybody realizes how much they appreciate an individual and how much they mean to them, I hope we all let our friends know how much we appreciate them and try no to take this for granted. I know this much to be true, as long as you are healthy; you really have nothing to complain about. As hard as this may be, please try to take all the good out of this as you can, Josh would not want it any other way. I want Josh to keep that great smile of his knowing how many people he has touched and inspired. One of the best things that he left us with is respect life, and life will respect you. If anybody watched the Piston’s game last night, the victory I feel was in part because of him and in part for him. Please celebrate his life and confidently know that he will rest in peace.
