FIGHTERPILOT

About Me

MyGen Profile Generator

Fighterpilot have built a stunning reputation as a live band, and its no surprise - from Chopper high kicking his way through the east coast to Tim punishing drum mic’s in Mildura and Boxy climbing scaffolding to upstage Grinspoon in the Barossa, Fighterpilot have always managed to combine energy and madness into a super tight and highly entertaining performance.
A seven year veteran of the Australian music scene, Fighterpilot have continue to write, record and perform at the highest level through lineup changes, near death touring experiences and more recently the birth of a new generation of junior pilots. Fighterpilot are blazing their own heavy-rock trail, refusing to bow to trends. From precise and intense drumming to unique and powerful vocals backed by awe-inspiring riffs and solos, Fighterpilot draw comparisons with power-rock outfits such as Audioslave and Velvet Revolver, and even a dash of vintage Van Halen.
The band formed in 2002 and put out their first Self Titled EP in 2003. The bands second EP, ‘Auto Rock’ was released nationally through MGM Distribution in October 2004 to critical acclaim, and a SAMIA award & Fusion TV award followed for the accompanying video clip to the track Fallen Sands.
In 2005 Fighterpilot unleashed a new line-up with the addition of respected session musician Matthew Williams. Matt infused the songs with Van Halen-esque flashes of brilliance and led the band in a heavier direction, introducing new sounds, ideas and song structures which overall have led to greater complexity and more diversity in the music.
The release of ‘The World Can’t Touch Me’ followed in late 2005, an uplifting, riff heavy rock song which achieved considerable airplay on Nova FM, Triple J, Rage, Regional and community radio through 2005 and 2006.
2006 – 2007 saw Fighterpilot continue to enhance their already impressive live reputation including performances at the Clipsal 500 after race concert for over 5000 people, the national “Rock the Vote” launch, playing support for Grinspoon and pickingup first prize and ‘best guitarist’ awards at the Pure Blonde ‘Rockwars’ competition. In late 2007 Fighterpilot released the radio-only single “Fall To Your Knees” which received national airplay via Triple J in addtion to community radio and rotation on the Sunraysia network in Victoria.
2008 promises to be another big year for the ‘Pilots, headlining the 2008 Bobfest Festival, tour supports, inking a worldwide publishing agreement with JL Music Publishing and of course the release of their debut Album “Silver Bullet…Plastic Gun” and supporting tour.

Ready for take-off!
"Fighterpilot put on a great performance at the Rock The Vote gig at The Gov. I got SO much feedback about their performance, it seems they were one of the favourite rockers of the night! I thought they were fantastic, even though I was busy I actually took time to stand still and watch because they sounded so good from backstage! I look forward to seeing them play again."
