About Me

"A LIFE APART" VIDEOEd Da Mia is a hardrock/alternative band with an experimental edge. formed in 2005 when exFLAWD guitarist Damian Smith had some songs he wanted to put on his good old trusty Yamaha 4 track with best friend and exFLAWD drummer Jason Spehr. These songs were 'Left Of Nowhere', 'A Falling Cup','The Path to You' and a few others that made up the first album "In Small Hours" which was released in July 2006 while Jason was in Europe on holiday. Upon his return they set out to record another album with the sessions starting in September 06, and then in Feb 2007 they released the second installment which was "Battled Souls And Borrowed Times". When this album came out Damian was very keen to bring Ed Da Mia into a live setting. He asked exFLAWD bandmate and album mixer Leigh Czerwonka to play bass for the live gigs that they would play and soon Ed Da Mia was playing venues around their local area and getting a great response for the public. Songs from the previous albums plus new ones from rehearsal sessions were being enjoyed by the punters. Ed Da Mia used all of 2007 to demo new material that would be part of their Third Album "The Division Of Truth - Part I". Six songs that are on the player at this time. The album was recorded at Mount Gambier's own BOMB STUDIOS with owner/engineer Steve Davis helping out. They played a few gigs and then had a nine month break and have just made a live return in March 09. During the break Damian And Jason have had a side project with some fellow local musicians called QUEEN AKINI. Check that out! The Division Of Truth - Part II will be making a streaming release on April 12, 2009, During this year(2009) Ed Da Mia plan on recording album number four and playing the occasional gig here and there. With the side project taking up alot of time work will be slow but worth it!
