Born in Charleston the capitol city of West Virginia DJ Hurricane has always been around music. His roots with music has always been present. His grandfather was a local blues singer. At a early age Hurricane began to rap, but never knew how to get his music out for the public to listen. While his friends and people around him had some music talent he had an idea to push their music to support. This is when DJ Hurricane was born. The original DJ Hurricane was the dj for The Beastie Boys, but at the time Hurricane was never aware of the legendary spin master. Hurricane has received his name from his favorite college football team and where he had lived some during his teen life the Miami Hurricanes. Hurricane to this day still hears the doubters and negative people about him starting a movement of mixing music with an i pod, but his words are constantly "why question how I hustle and make moves in my life when you're not the judge of me, and are you just mad you didn't think of my brilliant idea first".While one of the only few dj's to mix with an i-pod Hurricane has much respect to the vinyl and CD djs. in fact his biggest influence in the DJ game is the legendary Afrika Bambaataa and the Soulsonic Force
DJ Hurricane began mixing and spinning for parties in the summer of 2004 for Charleston’s The Beat 98.7’s Leeshia Lee, and since has done Sweet Sixteen’s, weeding events, and popular nightclubs. Hurricane has always had a love for music. His microphone skills are always present during
any party or event he does. Hurricane is one of few jockeys that use the Numark I-DJ as his main mixing equipment. The sounds of Hip-Hop, R&B, Rap, Top 40, and everything in the middle is what Hurricane proceeds to play during his live sets . Known to blow the sound of the roof is a short statement in which DJ Hurricane always bring hype, dynamic, powerful production to the party.
