Thank You Kindly (New Song Up)

About Me

Hailing from Tallahassee, FL, Thank You Kindly show us that the classic power trio is still a viable means for making relevant music. Fronted by singer, guitarist and principle songwriter Drew Carroll alongside bassist Hunter Savage and percussionist Steve Freddo, the band demonstrates a thorough understanding of guitar rock on their self-recorded debut Catalogued Backwash. Their songs make excellent use of form; each one presents an unexpected non-sequitur whether in a 3 minute pop gem or a more brooding extended work. Drew's narratives, written in varying perspectives, complement the music—taking cues from the Replacements, Pavement and Elvis Costello—sometimes sarcastic and biting, others conveying hope and still others taking a more dismal outlook all of which seem to relate back to Tallahassee life. All this is channeled into effectual live shows bolstered by beer and guitar solos. Gigs range from opening to Matt Pond PA to performing in front of the largest shark to exist at the University of Florida Museum of Natural History.
