Hailing from the Azores Islands, Death/Goth/Core sounding Anomally sprung up in 2005 and immediately launched for greatness!
After having their initial start recorded in an auto-produced promo-CD, the band started to work on “Once in Hell…â€, the long awaited first real recording. Influenced by the likes of Paradise Lost, Dark Tranquillity or even Lamb of God, Anomally recorded 8 tracks at Watt Studio, to include the familiar “Apocalyptic Signs†and the successful “I am Godâ€, previously demoed for a promotional disc. João Mendes, of famed band Stream produced, mixed, and mastered the album, which will be released on 31 October 2008, on Halloween night!
In their still short career, Anomally have already stacked greatness, having being granted as “Best New Band†by the regional media in the year immediately after their setup, the “Best Rock/Metal Band†award in the Azores Music Awards in 2007; Appearances have also been teeming, by lining up local festivals as the International Metal Festival (graced with the presence of the French Dagoba and the German Fear My Thoughts; “Alta Tensão Festival†(boasting the presence of the Dutch Mnemic, and locals Morbid Death, Reaktor, Concealment, and ForGodSake; “Azure Festivalâ€, supporting Kalashnikov; and the biggest regional festival – “Angra Rockâ€, in which they supported Portuguese great RAMP.
Reviews:
“(…) “Apocalyptic Signs†– the opening track – is a small pearl in which the aggressiveness of death metal fuses with goth melancholy (almost) perfectly. (…)†@opuskulo.blogspot.com (07/04/07)
“(…) Is a well conceived first-recording. We’ll see how far these Azorians can take their music – we’ll be here listeningâ€. @underworldmag.
