Born in Cupey, Puerto Rico of Cuban Father and Puerto Rican mother, the MC, writer and producer popularly known as Yeyo, is setting his mark in the world while creating the very best of Latin hip hop.His innate talent for creating rhymes was discovered at the age of 9 when he started writing poetry. At 13 years old, he bought his first set of turntables and quickly started making mix tapes. That's when the vision of blending his words with beats gave birth to the passion for rapping. Since then, he's been doing music.
His poems are inspired and derived from his experiences growing up in the turbulent streets of Cupey, PR.
Yeyo was the founder and one of three members of one of the first Puerto Rican hip hop groups The Shanghai Assassinz. In 1999, he made history with the production and release of the groups first single Viequez. The song was inspired and dedicated to the struggle that existed between Puerto Rico and the US Navy over military controlled land.Yeyo has performed in popular events like the Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York, the Calle Ocho Festival in Miami, the Soulfrito festival, the Mix Show Power Summit in PR amongst many other clubs and festivals.
He has been featured in countless albums and mixtapes around the world. In 2004 Yeyo produced and released his mix tape Mil y Un Problemas and the single, Mi Salsa, where his Caribbean roots are shown through the fusion of Hip-Hop with latin percussion and instrumentation. One year later, he masterminded La Conekta, a hip hop mix tape that united the best Latino MCs from around the globe. He also produced and recorded the theme song for the award winning Puerto Rican movie 12 Horas.In 2005 he started his company The Art of Sound Group Inc. and built a recording facility where he is producing and recording new and established artists under his imprint. Yeyo is an experienced producer with extensive studio knowledge on both analog and digital platforms.Yeyo's mission is to share his views and experiences with the world through his music and he will never stop.
