THE SNAILS:
Seriously influenced by early ska and the wisdom of Joe Strummer, The Snails started to play the music that was decaying and going out of style. They long to make music that will influence later generations and keep good music alive and going strong. Every song was written with 100% concentration and emotion to express what they truly feel. They’re unique sound combines elements of (real) ska, punk, rockabilly, and 50’s rock and roll. This combination allows for shows with tons of energy and excitement along with a genuine social message from their hearts. Although they enjoy playing these places, they also enjoy the D.I.Y Snailstock shows that they put on in their conservative hometown of Lititz, Pennsylvania. At these shows bands gather from all around to get together and play shows with tons of people crammed in a basement and having a wonderful time. Coming from Lancaster where the hardcore runs like water with virtually no ska scene, it was hard for them to find shows in the area. They’d spend hours polishing their tunes, while new songs just poured out of their minds. Now with the band living close to Philadelphia they hope to expand their music into this wonderful city and all around the world.
After touring in the winter of 2009 and the summer of 2010, they have released their second full-length album, “Know Your Roots†recorded and mixed by them. They released their c.d. at Dead Set Gallery. This smaller, white-walled room was jam packed with energy and dancing fans for the full forty minutes The Snails were on the stage. After the encore, the merchandise table was stomped with eager people purchasing their copy of “Know Your Roots.†They feel it is time that good music gets heard today when there is so much negativity in the world. In the words of Toots himself, “Ska is Love.†The Snails will continue to play music to positively influence the youth and the world around them in order to keep good music alive. And they will never forget their roots, and the influences that will put them wherever they may land. So please enjoy yourself because “life is short, live a good one, listen to The Snails.â€
