Anchortown Circus expands opportunities for circus performance, practice and play in Alaska. The group consists of Meghan Holtan, any group of musicians she can finagle into a balkan funk, and the Anchortown Jugglers. Aerial Cupcake Jessica Joy McVean and fabric man Anthony Oliva join her as collaborators. Her next performance is at the Denaina Convention Center Opening October 19th at 3:30PM.Meghan was the Artist in Residency in Seldovia and Northway schools spring of 2008. This summer, she lead a two week circus camp in Talkeetna for the Green Light Circus. She also co-taught a circus and modern dance performance art piece set to the music of Queen for Alaska Theater. She performs for corporate and public events. Recent collaborative shows include "CirqueNoir", and an aerial showcase in Talkeetna.
Meghan has performed and taught across the country with Runaway Circus and the Loose Cabooses, Chicago Youth Circus, the Cycle Circus of Impending Doom, University of Chicago's LeVorris and Vox Circus and the Great Y Circus in Redlands, California.
Through the circus arts, the performer weaves music and skill into a story about being human. Meghan currently works with juggling, fire, diabolo, unicycle, slackrope, poi, acro-balance, stilts, clarinet and clown. In her acts, circus props are everyday objects, and normal routines become a work of art and play. She hopes to build a small troupe to share the joy of making circus with Alaska.
