anime, cartoons, fantasy novels, politics, religous studies, philosophy, tom robbins, emo, indie, rock, theatre, movies, puppies, kittens, other baby animals, the beach, driving, cars, travel, india, japan, cooking, writing, people....other stuff actually, i'll show interest in anything anyone else is passionate enough about to make it seem interesting.
people willing to accept who i am at this stage of my life but still inspire me to change on a daily basis. those random people who are crazy into one, random little thing. star trek nerds. all the fly bitches and hos. (just kidding about the last one). the aqua teen hunger force. stan lee. my future grocery clerk. (now i'm just being silly). my long lost father. fellow travel junkies. other people who think watching election returns is better than football. more fools i went to elementary school with. (that memory lane shit kills me, i think it's the greatest). hmmm....this originally said something about a magical genie who could grant all my wishes, or pay all my bills. that still stands. any one have a magic lamp? i start the bidding at 52 cents and my first born lava lamp.View All Friends | View Blog
first, i need to admit, that since i'm kinda weird, people who say they just aren't that into music, make me nervous. because i really like it. there is a psychologist whose name i can never remember (or never knew in the first place) that has a theory about flow states. he was trying to suss out a scientific basis for the concept of "being one with things" and came up with flow. a state of being perfectly, well...like i said. he proposed that individuals have activities that can trigger a flow state. on that note, i like listening to music in my car, alone, on sunny, warm days, really, really loud. i am particular about songs, but they cross genres. i think it has something to do with bass lines, but i can't say for certain. hard to explain, but i know when i see it. kinda like falling in love...
i really like documentaries and bad b-rated horror movies involving common household pests that have become larger than life and quirky fantastical romances and movies about comic book heroes and movies based on favorite childhood stories. i almost across the board refuse to watch animal movies or war movies. i don't like movies that are sad throughout but hold no redemption at the end and big budget begging for an oscar timeless love stories and movies about sports. all that said, i think sitting in a movie theatre is one of the most enjoyable things a person could ever do with their time.
adult swim, aeon flux, american dad (sometimes), aqua teen hunger force, black donnellys (damn them for canceling it), the boondocks, carnivale (see above), cowboy bebop, dead like me, doctor who, family guy, futurama, grey's anatomy, heroes (oh, oh so much heroes), invader zim, king of the hill, life goes on, lost (i love you too, lost. but i hated your season finale), the l word (lesbians are hot),nip/tuck, northern exposure, picket fences, rescue me, the simpsons, six feet under, star trek: tng, venture bros (i want to baby-sit hank and dean)
i wish i still read as voraciously as i did when i was a child. as such, i have a wistful love of children's literature. i also like long fantasy epics, although lately i find it hard to find time to get all the way through them. i like clarke's sci-fi, especially "rendezvous with rama". i like political commentary and satire. love, love love, anything by tom robbins. "another roadside attraction" is one of my all time favorite books. i like chuck palahniuk. and dave eggers. once, when i was a grocery cashier, he came through my line with his brother and i had a serious star-struck moment. i have a thing for novels set in india. "god of small things" is so achingly pretty. once upon a time, i said i was going to write the next great american novel. now i'd like to find the time and gumption to survive the modern american dream.
caleb, no doubt, loud and proud, every day. i love this man. my mom and liesl, they are so kind and generous to each other. every couple should strive to be like them every day. from the fictional realms, mad props to jack flanders and ruby. anime shout out goes to ichigo and rukia, haruko, super milk chan, and the teen titans. to the politicians out there that realize all people have the same basic needs and just want to help get them met, thank you. i know it's hard, but i think the change will come. to every random person with a cool idea that follows through, i admire that. i can't follow through for shit. really, everyone's a hero to someone. just keep getting up in the morning.
