About Me

My name is Josh and I'm currently a junior at CSU Sacramento. My biggest interests include music, engineering, & learning how things work. I started learning to play music over 10 years ago, starting out on drums and then eventually picking up piano, bass and guitar. Contrary to popular belief, I do not nor have I ever played the Trumpet (inside joke there). I have played in a few bands over the years and enjoy jamming out every once in a while. I even recieved an Associates in Music Cum Laude from Hartnell College, Salinas. It is at this junction in life that I decided I wanted to get involved in Engineering. I have always wanted to know how and why things work and being good at math and science pushed me in that direction. Besides that, I do like doing a number of other things. I'm outdoorsie and love to travel to new and far off places. Let's see: camping, hiking, swimming, kayaking, just about any sport, traveling, working on computers, working on vehicles, photography, the list goes on and on. Currently, I'm still doing this school thing; that & playing some tunes when I can. Sound interesting? Well talk to me!
You want to love with me, love with me then,
I only ask that you still be my friend,
For there are many where friendship's unknown,
They live together, but really alone...
But the world keeps it promise daily, to let me down,
But it can't hide what I have found
So I will love you, and love you I do,
It's not complete yet, but you know we're not through ~Keith Green

I will be here
When you feel like being quiet
When you need to speak your mind
I will listen
And I will be here
When the laughter turns to cryin
Through the winning, losing and trying
~SCC

My Interests

Music Just about all types of music I'm very open minded and just flat out love music. I'm a big fan of rock, punk, Metal, Ska, Reggae, jazz, classical, latin, RnB, Motown, 80's, you name it, anything w/ a sweet groove and a sweet sound....the list goes on & on. Here's a very incomplete list of some artist that I enjoy: Tourniquet, Suicidal Tendencies, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Rancid, Craig's Brother, GNR (Guns N' Roses & Appitite album only), Eric Clapton, Aerosmith, Led Zepplin, Hall and Oates, Al Green, Keith Green, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Incubus, Marvin Gaye, Robert Cray, BB King, James Taylor, Herman's Hermits, The Beatles, Jackson 5, Temptations, Maroon 5, 311, Jack Johnson, Pink Floyd, Tower of Power, Ray Charles, Rolling Stones, Alanis Morrisette, Terry Hanck and many others.
Favorite Composers: Anything by Tchaikovsky or Dvorak is always a winner. Bach's "St Matthew's Passion" is by far one of my favorite classical pieces even if I'm not a big Bach fan. I'm in love with Claude Debussy's "Claire De Lune" and am a fan of Debussey's work. Frank Wildhorn, and the Alan Menken/Howard Ashman team are by far some of my favorite contemporary composers to date.
Television: I actually prefer to stay away from television....read a book, doing something outside or just playing some music I find more rewarding but I still find some programs that I like on TV. Let's see: Modern Marvels...actually almost anything on History channel.
Books: I'm a big fan of the classics Don Quitote, 3 Muskettes, Scarlet Pimpernel, Phantom of the Opera, Tevye (what fiddler on the roof is based on), Of Mice & Men, East of Eden, The Illiad and the Odyssey, Energy does Matter.....ok that's not classic. I do enjoy reading about how things work, so your general engineering/physics/science books apply. There are a fathom of other books to list. Too many to list today. I might add some more later.
Other Books: I recently read a list of a number of books that are or have been banned. I was surprised by the ones that I've read....all being really good book. The list follows:
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck
Harry Potter (Series) by J.K. Rowling
To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain
Carrie by Stephen King
Lord of the Flies by William Golding
A Separate Peace by John Knowles
James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl
The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck
Hamlet by Shakespeare
Grimm's Fairy Tales

Heros: Let's just call this a list of those I respect most, a work in progress. My family especially grandparents and great uncle George, Dale Harrison, Bruce Graham, Ted Kirkpatrick, Steven Monroe, Benjamin Franklin, Sir Isaac Newton, Nichola Tesla, Sen. Lindsay Graham, Keith Green, my beautiful girlfriend Lindsay and many, many others. I know I've forgot a great many. I'll update this as I remember.
