I am a knitwear designer and knitting author and teacher. I have two stores; one in Los Angeles at 7350 Beverly Blvd and one in New York in Soho at 281 Lafayette St. I love what I do. I am married to a fantastic guy, Brian - an actor and my business partner. AND I have two beautiful and special girls, Hanna (16) and Viveka (8). I came from Sweden and moved to New York when I was 21. I fell in love with the vibrant city and now I have a business there...how cool is that! Dreams do come true. You might have to work hard for them but if you believe in them, they will happen. So don't give up. Oh and Knitting is the new yoga. I didn't make this up but somehow I get credit for it...but I think it's true!! The store in LA has been around for 11 years and it is really a wonderful place to hang and knit and see the fashion side of my knitting. I like to put my most fashion forward items there. New York is evolving into a craft studio. All centered around community, knitting and yarn. People need a place to go and be in New York. You walk away from your home in the morning and you might not be able to get back there til much later and so you need places to go that feed your interest and creativity. I want the store to be that. People come by and work on their projects, take a class, visit with a friend or just catch a break. There is tea and wine and a little something to snack on. The space is huge with a beautiful skylight. It is peaceful with dark wooden floors, an open wood ceiling and endless walls of yarn to get busy with.
