Contemplate acts of anti-ism while admitting you are not who you think you are. Recognize phobic tendencies as unwillingness to consume everything you are given.

"Of course I am afraid, because the transformation of silence into language is an act of self-revelation, and that always seems fraught with danger. But my daughter, when I told her of our topic and my difficulty with it, said, 'Tell them about how you're never really a whole person if you remain silent, because there's always that one little piece inside you that wants to be spoken out, and if you keep ignoring it, it gets madder and madder and hotter and hotter, and if you don't speak it out, one day it will just up and punch you in the mouth from the inside.'" -Audre Lorde

My Interests

activism, bitch magazine, books, clear plastic umbrellas, documentaries, drag, feminism, gender, hands, peaches, philosophy, protests, queers, shiny objects, spoken word, storms, thinking of 958 potential careers, transfeminism

I'd like to meet:

feminists, artists, ethical sluts, muckrakers, magpies, dorks

Music:

I like it. I like it a lot.

Movies:

no human should be constrained by manufactured lables divided into pre-packaged units reduced to simplistic profiles under the guise of patriotism

Television:

If I'm actually watching TV during the work week, then it's all about shows that make me laugh. Since we're solidly into campaigning season for the primaries, on the weekends I try to catch whoever happens to be attempting to charm the media or whoever the media happens to be attempting to charm. I sometimes watch GPB wishing it was as awesome as it used to be.

Books:

I have too many books that I'm in love, like, or lust with to list them here. Right now I'm reading an assortment of gender, disability, neurology, and nursing books. I can't keep my dorky interests in one place at a time. Other than books, I read Bitch Magazine and Mother Jones.

Heroes:

Alice Walker, Emma Goldman, Dali Lama, June Jordan, abortion providers, feminist outlawz, lavender & transgender menaces, local heroes and sheroes

MLK's Vietnam speech

"These are the times for real choices and not false ones. We are at the moment when our lives must be placed on the line if our nation is to survive its own folly. Every man (sic) of humane conviction...
