Firstly and most importantly, gratitude goes to my wife Dorene; without her, I would have nothing.I'm a freelance writer - rock'n'roll. I've had features and reviews published in Shake Rattle and Roll, Rebel Rouser, New Music, Prairie Sun, BAM, Music & Sound Output, Blue Suede News, Goldmine, No Depression, Rock & Rap Confidential, Crackerjack, Marshalltimes, and Rock'n'Roll Purgatory.For the past several years, I've been writing for Rockabilly Magazine (formerly Rockabilly Monthly). For RM, I've covered the Rockats, 13 Cats, Robert Gordon, King Records, Tremors, Alphabet Bombers, Horrorpops, Danny B. Harvey and Finn and the Sharks.I'm presently serving as RM's CD/DVD reviewer. In 2000, I worked as a volunteer for Ralph Nader's independent presidential campaign. Following Nov. 2000, I founded the Black Hawk County, Iowa Green Party. Soon thereafter, I became Media Coordinator for the Iowa Greens (a position I held until early 2006), writing press releases for them and maintaining statewide media relations.Other political op-ed publishing credits include Counterpunch, the nat'l Green Party's Green Pages, and the Iowa Civil Liberties Union's Defender newsletter. Newspaper credits include the Des Moines Register, Iowa City Press-Citizen, Waterloo Courier, Cedar Falls Times, and Marshalltown Times-Republican.In early 2004, I signed on again with Ralph Nader's independent presidential campaign, serving first as State Ballot Coordinator (we got him on) and then as Iowa Coordinator.And throughout, I've organized locally to affirm Citizens's traditional Constitutional rights and liberties, via opposition to the PATRIOT ACT. Too, I've participated with the local Fairness Alliance, to advocate for LGBT legal, educational, and social interests.
