About Me

Well, this is one bulletin I never wanted to post but here goes. FUTURE STAR STUDIO has been an institution for over 20 years. It has seen all the music generations come and go and survied it all. I remember "back in the day" when skinheads used to fight in the halls and it would spill outside because there were racist skins in one room and non racist skins in the other. (glad those day's are gone) And the fabulous late 80's, when metal heads used to need all their hairspray, not just for their hair, but to hold up their inflated over weight ego's as well, and they used to fight with the punks, who at the time were considered freaks cause the world had still not known what Punk rock was, let alone Staten Island..
Luckily I took it over when the dust settled (no pun intended)
I have owned FUTURE STAR for over 9 years now and was one of the first 10 bands to start rehearsing there when it opened, so I remember those day's well. I have seen a few generations come and go, since I took it over it has become a family. I've seen most of you go through fuckin' puberty for fuck's sake ;) Now most of you are all grown up with job's, wives, kids, responsibilities etc. but every once in a while you would still come back to let it all out like you used to, sorry I have to take that away.
The landlord sold the property, if I tried to get a new lease it would have been double what I pay now, and the place in general is falling apart. It's more or less "kill or be killed" I kill it, or it kills me, and I ain't done yet! ;) Some of you that are reading this don't have a clue, and it's a shame, you don't know what ya missed. The rest of you that understand, again I say I'm sorry, but I will be relocating bigger and better and still carry on the same tradition for the new generation. I'll let you all know when I find it.
In the mean time I will be having a few shows the last weeks of October, cause I always said when I leave, I'm going out with a bang.
So yes, it is official, "The Star Has Finally Burned Out"
FUTURE STAR STUDIO IS DEAD AS OF OCT.31ST
"Live and Let Die"
*I will be doing equipment rentals while I look for the new location (read the blog)
DIZNEY FIST - "HOPE LOST" - OCT.31st 2007
Future Star Studio is a rehearsal and recording studio in Staten Island, NY. Where bands come to rehearse, record and interact with other bands. It is owned by Phil Portuesi (aka. Phil Cadaver) and is a place that is run, "By the bands, For the bands".
Phil grew up as a kid being into Punk Rock and hanging around places like the famed Max's Kansas City, CBGB's, The Ritz, and the little known, but very influencial, A7 Club. Being from that era, and playing in bands, he picked up on the whole concept of bands getting together, renting there own spaces, putting on their own shows, making their own records etc., Now known as DIY (do it yourself). That is the premise that Future Star Studio is now based on.
Future Star Studio is affiliated with "Charl's Handi-Jam", a non-profit orginization that helps raise money for mentally and handicapped kids. Together they put on shows and festivals to help raise money for the kids. .
Future Star Studio also promotes and does shows in various venues. Providing backline equipment, sound systems, and security if needed. As well as a van service for bands, getting the band and their equipment to and from shows.
Touring bands have also been known to use the studio as a place to stay while in NY. Some of the bands that have come by are; GBH (from England), Blood or Whiskey (from Ireland), The Dead End Kids, The Obscene, and The Come On's from Florida. It has also been frequented by musicians such as, Richie Scarlet (Ace Frehely band) and AJ Pero (Twisted Sister) as well as many others.
Future Star Studio is not just another studio, but "another state of mind".
