I am here for Friends

About Me

I've lived in Virginia my entire life - my family came from the mountains, and I grew up on the coast - how's that for the best of both worlds? I've worked for the federal Government for over 20 years. I have to admit it's not always the most exciting job in the world but I like what I do, and getting to feed my checking account twice a month is always a plus. As you can probably tell by other parts of my profile, I'm an absolute sports nut especially when it comes to NASCAR. One of my favorite things in the world is heading to the track, spending the day (or weekend) tailgating with my friends and then topping it off by getting to see a great race. I enjoy going to the local track too. I'm also into music - BIG TIME. I'll listen to just about anything (just ask my friends - I swear they question my sanity sometimes). Most of the time I listen to country although Elvis is tops in my book, but then again I love to rock out to hair bands too! Then I can totally switch channels, throw on my boots, and head to the dance floor! I love to hang out with my friends and have a great time!

My Interests

NASCAR (Elliott Sadler!!!!), Washington Redskins with some love thrown in for the Steelers too, Virginia Tech Hokies, Baltimore Orioles and Norfolk Tides...music, concerts, but above all, my friends and family (I've been blessed with the best of both.)

Music:

Everything under the sun - these days I listen to country most of the time like Gretchen, Kenny, Brooks & Dunn, Garth, CDB, Hank Jr., but I also love 80's hair bands like Bon Jovi, Cinderella, Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Poison, really too many to name! I also listen to a lot of classic country (if you know who Johnny Horton is then you're just too cool for school), bluegrass and oldies. Elvis is my all time favorite...

Movies:

Gone With The Wind, Cold Mountain, 8 Seconds, Rio Bravo, Friday, Forrest Gump, Titanic, The Wedding Singer, The Waterboy, The Lion King, stupid humor movies like Tommy Boy, 'Dega Nights, Dumb & Dumber, etc etc etc.

Television:

Besides watching racing, football and baseball, I feel like I pay my cable bill just to flip, flip, flip through the channels. Does quality TV exist anymore? I actually do watch the History Channel from time to time, The Discovery Channel and TLC - hey, I might learn sumthin' that'll make me S-M-R-T! And I gotta admit that I tend to get addicted to every season of American Idol.

Books:

Sad to say but I don't really read that many books these days. I'll have to work on that.

Heroes:

Without a doubt, my parents and grandparents...they all have seen more adversity in their lives than I ever will, and knowing that keeps my life in check when I think I've had a "bad day". And I want to send out a big thank you and lots of love to all of the troops serving our country both here at home and far away from home - y'all ROCK!!!
