James Erickson

James Erickson has been teaching classical and rock guitar for seven years throughout the NY/ Long Island area. James is an adjunct instructor of music at Nassau Community College and Suffolk Community College and is a founding member of the Long Island Classical Guitar Society. James holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in music history and performance from the C.W. Post campus of Long Island University, where he was awarded Outstanding Performance in Guitar Studies in May 2003.As a classical guitar soloist, his performances have included the Hillwood Recital series, and the Bruce Museum recital series. James also has performed with the Merriweather Consort on tour in the United States, Europe, and Canada. James has also participated in the Long Island Guitar Festival in both solo and chamber performances. He has also performed in master classes for Jerry Willard, Carlo Domeniconi, Benjamin Verdery, Sharon Isbin, Carlos Barbosa - Lima, David Starobin, and Eduardo Fernandez. Currently James is a member of Guitar Trilogy, a guitar trio performing a variety of classical and contemporary repertoire. The group has performed throughout Long Island, New York, New Jersey and Conecticut. The group was recently featured in the Arts section of the South Hampton Press.As an electric guitarist James has been active as a studio musician playing on many independent recordings for BPC Records. He has also performed the guitar parts for many theater productions including Hair and Seussical. James has also performed with several popular local bands, opening for many national acts including Saigon Kick and Twisted Sister. James currently plays in several cover and original bands.
