Help microfinance Poligraf's first album !
Q. What happens when you endeavour over the years to write music exactly as you hear it, without concern for such constructs as image, marketability, and profitability ?
A. You wake up one day and realize that you have a hard drive loaded with stimulating, challenging, healing, and inspiring music.
Q. How do you bring such music into a world where those who are supposed to help you seem more interested in constructs than contents ?
A. You bypass the problem and go straight to those for whom the music was written.
Introducing The Goal Was So Near , a website dedicated to Poligraf's attempt at using microfunding to bring its first album into the world. The site will document the funding operation as it unfolds, and as time permits will also be used to present the band and its history to the public.
You're invited to begin your visit with The Plan which presents the details of the music that we want to record, the production and distribution strategies, and the packages that contributors can pre-order to support the band members in their efforts.
Please help us spread the word. Thank you in advance for your support !
Bio
Poligraf was originally formed in February 1998. After having lasted through many personnel changes, the band’s core finally dissolved in February 2003, right in the midst of the recording of a first album. Following a few months off, new collaborators were recruited and a new line-up finally gelled in June 2005. The boys found themselves in search of a bassist in March 2007 after the departure of Isaac Desgagné-Bouchard, and Denis Robitaille, one of the band’s founder, came back into the fold from the end of June 2007 until June 2008.
The band presently counts four members.
Guitarist, keyboardist, and lead vocalist, Christopher Stewart also acts as main composer and band leader.
Holding degrees in Music Education and Classical Interpretation, and full-time member of the Ensemble vent et percussion de Québec , Christian Lavoie fulfills both the roles of drummer and percussionist.
Already known for his soundtrack to the short film « Falling, » Miguel Puerto cements the band with his confident guitar playing and occasional keyboard contributions.
Martin Daris gives his energies to vocals.
Strongly influenced by progressive rock, the poligrafists draw from a wide range of genres going from world beat and jazz fusion, to symphonic music and free form improvisation.
