ive already met him, but i would like to meet Greg Bennick, the ex singer for the hardcore band TRIAL. he was an amazing musician, and his passion and dedication saturated his lyrics with not only intelligent, but precise opinions and beliefs that affected not only me, but a whole scene and generation of hardcore kids that were lucky enough to be around when trial was still together. at the time i think i took it for granted how great the hardcore scene in portland (and the whole northwest for that matter) was, but once trial broke up it just wasnt the same. it took me a while to realize what an impact these shows and the great people that were there had on me, i cant even begin to describe how sacred i hold these memories. i dont think i will ever forget all the times greg would stop the show to talk about something that was on his mind, or just to do something fun to keep the scene fresh and motivated.....i wish i could find more words to say what i mean......one show in particular i dont remember exactly when, but it was at the old stage 4 in portland. in the middle of the show greg wanted to put on a fire dancing and juggling exhibition (if you were ever in stage 4 you know how small it is) for like 15 or 20 minutes him and some other people put on this show within the show that was absolutely amazing. i'll always remember that show, and meeting greg afterwards just to say whats up and let him know what an inspiration he was, made this hardcore kids day let me tell you.
yep, i like it.....alot.
