About Me

THE ORIGINATOR OF SLENG TENG WHO MADE JAMMY'S INTO A KING ------------------ In the 80's there were no confusion as to who had integrated the computerized rhythm and rearranging it into dancehall reggae, creating the "Sleng Teng Rhythm. But surprisingly enough Wayne Smith is having to remind his fans of the events that had taken place during the period of the creation of Sleng Teng. Every Artist on the reggae music scene knows the truth, and knows that "Sleng Teng" is just a small part of Wayne Smith's great accomplishment.Just to name of few, Wayne Smith at the tender age of 14 yrs old worked on his first song, got his first number one hit song at the tender age of 17yrs old called "Under Mi Sleng Teng". His song "Come Along, Come Along" made number 2 on the chart. Wayne Smith made over 200 songs including Ain't No Meaning of saying Goodby", "Walk Like Granny", and many many more. At 19 yrs old, Wayne Smith became the CEO of his studio "Sleng Teng Recording". Immediately after opening his studio, Wayne Smith wasted no time in building his repertoire, as he built the rhythm, engineered and mixed the first number one hit song for Ninja Man and Courtney Melody, "Send Fi Protection", did the same with Bounty killer on "Top Secret" just to name a few. Known by many artist, friends and family as a humble, friendly and down-to-earth person to be around, Wayne Smith is also known to have made a great impact in Dancehall Reggae. His technique in building and arranging rhythm is said by many to have been a gift that makes you want to dance. And because of his unique ability, over the years had worked with many, many artist including, "Super Cat", Shaba Ranks, Frankie Paul, Elephant Man, Ansel Meditation, Scion Success just to name a few. With the assistance of Noel Davey and Jammy's, Wayne Smith changed the history of Reggae with the computerized rhythm called "Sleng Teng". Wayne Smith was the one who found the computerized sound in the keyboard, and with the assistance of Noel Davey, composed the rhythm. Wayne Smith then slowed the rhythm down and matched it to a key that was most comfortable for him to sing on. While working on the rhythm, at one point before taking it to Jammy's, Wayne Smith and Noel Davey had lost the rhythm, but Noel Davey found it a few days later. After days of rehearsing on the rhythm, Wayne Smith and Noel Davey later brought it to Jammy's Studio, at which time Jammy's had just returned from over seas and was helpful in placing a clap on the rhythm. At first, Jammy's was a bit hesitant to release the song, upon the basis that it was too straight and different from the norm. The song was later played on Prince Jammy's sound, and it mash up de dance. And from there, the song became a number one hit all over the world, and Wayne Smith became the person who had changed the history of Dancehall reggae.
