About Me

Miriam Kassim (aka Blacke Cherrie) is an artist in every sense of the word, having establised her self from the very beginning as a bonified singer- songwriter and producer. The first song she wrote 'Nothing in the World' was snapped up by EMI, produced by early Kylie remixers (Lee/Lee), went to no.1 in some countries and smashed into the UK top 40 despite her being unknown.Miriam then switched labels with her girlband Mozaic and joined Paul Oakenfold at Perfecto. Mozaic enjoyed huge world-wide success with numerous hits such as Sing it (the Halleluljah Song) a remake of Doctor Albums hit, Rays of the Rising Sun and Moving up Moving on! as well as touring with artists like Grace, BT and the Spice Girls.Miriam felt she was becoming trapped in a cheesy pop world, to escape she turned down a new deal to continue the band and went into a quiet underworld to develop her own unique writing & production style. It wasn't long before the artist known as Blacke Cherrie was summoned again..Miriam was head hunted by Jive Records to support Groove Armada on their European tour and also write/ co-produce an album for groundbreaking german artist Kai Liekenbroecker aka (Wondabraa). The album received rave reviews and Miriam was asked to become a permanent part of the production/ writing team. "I loved Jive & Germany, but It was time for me to go home and become famous in my own backyard again!"Miriam began working with producers like Matt Wanstall and Kid British and began nuturing her new project Blacke Cherrie.Since forming, Blacke Cherrie has quickly established its identity by creating a blend of dark soulful credible pop. Tracks such as “Twitch” and “Caterpilla” are creating interest , with their trippy soulful vocals, and blend of musical influences. Probably the most cliched phrases used when new bands are launched, include “has no category,” “totally unique sound” or “best thing you’ll hear this year.” Such claims won’t be made here, but we wouldn’t disagree with you if after listening to Blacke Cherrie you felt such hyperbole wasn’t out of place.
The music of course speaks for itself. Nevertheless, we think that the best way we could describe the artistry of Black Cherrie is “Aural Sculptures.” Each track is an individual master class in the art of making exquisite music. You feel enveloped in its lusciousness when you listen to these works. Cleverly teasing your senses, each composition manages to transport you into a feeling. The challenge is to listen to these songs and remain unmoved.
The lyrics are thoughtful, yet they are neither unhurried nor misplaced and they could not be delivered more perfectly. Miz’s performance on each track leaves you wanting more. Blacke Cherrie have a knack for writing songs that bond with the listener almost instantaneously. Indeed, this is music for the soul and Blacke Cherrie are the pioneers of a new genre of music, Electro Soul.
