About Me

A friendship between two musicians and their mutual interest in the music of Death/Black metal lead to the formation of the band currently known as DEMONSTORM. Ivan Sanchez aka “Niggurath” (Lead Guitar/ Vocalist) and Alex Valencia aka "chucky" (Drummer)created music that was an alternative to what is now commonly known as “Extreme Music” or Dark, brutal metal.
In their hometown of Orange County in the year 2001, the two friends along with two other former band members (a second guitarist and a bass player) formed the band known as THORNS. They obtained a following in the local scene for both Spanish/English Metal. However, and most unfortunately the two former members were not up to par with the type of music or the impact that the band wanted to exhibit.
A few months later, during a performance in San Juan Capistrano, a young man was inspired and found he shared the same interest in the type of music the band demonstrated and asked to join the band. His name is Moises Camacho aka “Moi” (Second Guitarist). The three band members continued performing at several venues as the band THORNS for the following months with no bass player. It wasn’t until a year later at a performance in the city of Ontario at Bar Iguana’s did they meet with the fourth member, Marco Padilla aka “Metalico” (bass), whom was also inspired by the band’s type of music, and became the new addition. Now established with its four members, the band finally became known as DEMONSTORM.
The origin of the band’s name “DEMONSTORM” was developed by the idea that individuals or society as a whole are often bombarded/ overwhelmed with images of evil acts, disasters, death, disease, racism, religion, sexism, terrorism, violence, and etc. on a daily basis giving us the sense that we are powerless to the “demons” that humanity contributes or purges on itself; thus we find ourselves caught in a “Demonstorm”!
DEMONSTORM’s musical inspiration/influences are from great bands such as BLACK SABBATH, METALLICA, DISSECTION, and BATHORY.
The band’s first Demo was released by the year 2004

IVAN: “I grew up listening mostly to classic rock bands like Black Sabbath, the Doors, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin. My dad was into that music and I loved it. One day he played a tape of a band called Black Sabbath one of the songs titled N.I.B caught my attention. After listening to it, I knew right then and there that playing the guitar was going to be my calling; in short that did it for me. After that, I knew one day I would form a band of my own and play lead guitar (what a thought for only being 9 years old). I got my first guitar by age nineteen. I learned to play it on my own, about this time I was heavily into Black Metal music bands like Dissection, Samael, Mayhem, Emperor & Shub Niggurath. At age sixteen my friends gave me the nickname “Shub Niggurath” because I really liked a band called Shub Niggurath .

Name: Alex Valencia

Drummer Drum Set: Pearl

Alex: "I started playing drums in 2001 in my former town of Lake Forest with a couple of friends from work. Together we would often attend all the local metal concerts throughout Orange County. One day. we finally came up with the idea to form a band of our own. I started off trying to play the guitar. But one day my mom told me that playing the guitar wasn't for me and that I should try playing the drums. Bingo!! I found my niche and drums it was. The drums were an extension of me. I played them with all my strength, as fast and as hard as I could. I loved the feeling, and I knew I could do this and with this I could make my "mark" in life. I was also influenced by bands who had drummers that played with such fury like Rage Against the Machine, and Slipknot especially the way drummer Joey Jordinson played the drums. However, and not to saythe least I was heavily influenced by Drowning Pool's vocalist Dave aka "Stage Williams". I felt I had a lot of things in common with him, like our passion for music, outlook in life, having easy going personalities, and his view of how nothing could effect him but his music".
