Sounds Like: Hi, I’m Ed Wright. Here’s my life in music so far.I saw my first rock and roll band in 1956, “Mad Mike and the Maniacsâ€. That set the course. I started 10 years of tuba in 1958. I sang “Hound Dog†in 1962 at my sister’s sweet sixteen party.June of 1963, I got a Silvertone guitar. October of ’63 JFK got shot and the world fell apart. I saw the Beatles on the Sullivan show on January 1964, and the world started back up again. I switched from “folk music†to rock and roll.My first band was in 1964. There were a lot of “E progressionsâ€, I found out later that that was the beautiful “12 bar bluesâ€. 1965 I got a job in the Public Library, where I cleaned their record collection and found out who was writing the songs on the “Rolling Stones†records-Willie Dixon, Howling Wolf (Burnett) and Muddy Waters (Morgan Field). I started to read “Down Beat†and later “Guitar Player†magazines.I started playing clubs in 1968 and haven’t stopped yet. I have played all kinds of gigs, electric, acoustic and slide guitar. I picked up harmonica playing along the way. I have played all kinds of music. I like the blues, old country, “Americana†roots music, and the standards.Still look forward to every gig, still get a thrill, still find something new in the music. I’ve had the chance to play with some great musicians, great people. I hope you enjoy my stuff.
