Anyone who can help me make headlines and deadlines.
(no, not the a-Ha album...although that is on my iPod)
Take 2: Anyone who can take on me, take me oooooooooon...
(son of a bitch!)
If it does damage...
...or slaps hard, you're sure to find my head bobbin'.
Beyond that, umm, I listen to bona-fide truckfuls of bastard pop (the Snobby McSnobberson term for mash-ups). Some of my favorites include dj BC , DJ Earworm , Go Home Productions , Jay-R , DJ John , Party Ben , Smash-Up Derby (a live boot band!), DJ Tripp (83-what?!), and anyone frequenting the forum Get Your Bootleg On!
Here's some more clues:
Troma films ( Poultrygeist coming soon!), Hindi films, David Cronenberg films, Jim Jarmusch films, John Waters films, Chopping Mall, Takashi Miike films, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre , Battle Royale , Blood Freak, Suspiria, Requiem for a Dream, Freaks, and lots others I'll list later. But horror/exploitation/trash is a good place to start, though I'm a big fan of the snootier stuff too, although I suppose I'll watch anything, now that years of film school and critical thinking have given me the ability (curse?) to find something worth talking about in any film, even if it bores you to death. Or you can just check my DVDAF list .
(note: I haven't updated this section since I first created my MySpace profile. I should probably do that some time.)
I have a TV, but we don't have cable or anything. Here are some TV shows we own on DVD:
Like many Americans, I'm a second-order illiterate . I'm trying to get back into reading (amongst many other things), but it's difficult.
Recently, I've read Tennessee Williams' Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (amazing!), Terry Pratchett's Moving Pictures, Raymond Chandler's The Big Sleep, and am (very) slowly but (just as very) surely trudging my way through Mark Z. Danielewski's House of Leaves. I've also burned through just about every Fables, Ultimate X-Men, and Marvel Zombies trade in print. Also, Alan Moore's Watchmen is fantastic. Read it again before Hollywood mucks it up!
...and everyone else with the focus and courage to create. One day I will make you proud.
