About Me

I like chocolate. A lot. Especially chocolate cake.
mmm...chocolate cake
I was born and raised on Maui, and after going away to college in Oregon, my one goal in life was to be able to live on Maui again. It seemed like a lofty goal, but I reached it when I moved back to work at an observatory atop Haleakala right after college. So, now I'm trying to set new life goals that don't involve moving away from Maui - not easy.
Due to recent staff changes at work, I am now working in Safety, Health and Environmental Affairs. I work on a lot of laser safety stuff, which I have been for a couple years, and now I am also doing a bunch of environmental stuff as well. So, I guess I'll be learning a lot about silverswords and other natural and cultural resources at the summit of Haleakala.
When I'm not suffering from trying to think in an oxygen deficient environment I like to watch movies. I also do costume design for Maui OnStage (Community Theater), and for one of the shows I sewed five nun habits and a giant squid costume.
I also love traveling. I have been to England, Ireland, Paris, Slovenia, Croatia, China, Thailand and I just returned from Carnaval in Rio de Janeiro. I have not yet planned my next trip, I really want to go to Egypt, but I think that is still a couple years off.

Emerging from the Fog

I try not to be to metaphorical or philosophical about things because I feel that it tends to vague them up rather than clarifying them. However, the problem here is that things aren't clear to me an...
