I have been into the VJ/Video Mixing/ Live Video Artist side of the industry for about 4 years, after promoting club nights and events from 1989 right up until 2003 (Hellraiser, Pleasuredome and Dubweiser) but promoting got to difficult because everybody was at it (even at the local village hall Ha Ha) plus I started work as a Resources Manager at a music college a company called Access To Music which has centres all over the UK, so i couldnt spend all my days promoting.

I had always been into the visual part of events like hassling the laser man for half an hour go on his set up and its funny when you are paying their wages they seem to be keen to let you have a go and we were also doing events and nights at old nightclubs so it was fun playing on the old disco style lighting system. And then technology advanced and visuals became more and more of a bigger role in event production.

I started off with a old battered projector (a candle behind a magnifying glass would have been stronger Ha Ha) and a DVD player using film, music videos and my own video camera clips crudely strung together on a first make DVD recorder that kept freezing and failing the finalizing process of DVDs. I eventually saved money from gigs that I did and bought an old vision mixer (Panasonic MX10) from a theatre, which allowed me to have 2 video sources going into the mixer also mixing and blending the 2 sources going out to the projector (the same as a DJ mixer but with visuals instead of sound) so one channel would have DVD video and the other channel would have a video camera feed which I would setup on the DJ with effects on so it wouldnt be just a plain picture of the DJ on the screen I could slow his frame rate down and or change his silhouette colour. After getting more and more gigs I bought 2 powerful projectors and took out some finance and bought a Mac Powerbook and some VJ software (Arkaos) www.arkaos.net and a Archos AV500 DVR (Digital Video Recrder) made by archos www.archos.com since then I have been out gigging most weekends and had to stop my Djing (old school breaks, Funk and Rare Grooves) there was a lot more work on the Vjing side through people wanting to book me so I had to put the Djing on hold (Boo Hoo) I recently bought a new Macbook Pro and some new software (livid Union) www.lividinstruments.com A demo DVD is available for any promoters or anyone even, to E-Mail me and have a look at in the hope of some bookings.hope to hear from you soon.......... i-saw
