About Me
Christa Gates is a singer, vocal contractor, and vocal coach/teacher currently living in Los Angeles. Her life as a session singer has led to numerous TV and Film credits as a singer and/or contractor, both on and off camera, which include "Battlestar Galactica" (Universal/SciFi), "7th Heaven" (CBS), "Las Vegas" (NBC), "The O.C." (WB Television), "Sex, Love & Secrets" (UPN), "Slackers" (Sony Pictures) and "Path To War" (HBO Films). She has performed and/or recorded with various artists such as Jon Secada, Grammy® winning artist Daniel Ho, Emmy® winning artist Faith Rivera, Jem, O.A.R., Tony Orlando, Roberto Carlos, Don Shelton, and for Road Rules/The Real World on MTV.As a young girl, Christa spread her vocal wings with her love of singing to the music of Disney, as well as to recordings of groups like Brasil 66, The Carpenters, and The Mamas and the Papas. After initial classical training and earning an Associate in Arts degree in music, her love of harmony and blend led her to earn a Bachelor of Music degree in Studio Music and Jazz Vocal Performance at the University of Miami, with honors. While there, she was featured in various Downbeat® award-winning vocal jazz ensembles, performing at International Association of Jazz Educators (IAJE) conventions and events.Christa has performed in countless live shows, at venues ranging from the House of Blues to Walt Disney World, with tribute bands (Bobby Darin, Steely Dan, The Andrews Sisters), to spots with the Pasadena Pops and the Harry James Orchestra, and with various a cappella groups, to name a few. She is honored to join some of the top singers in L.A., and close friends, on Neil Young's Grammy® nominated CD/DVD project, "Living With War".
