Cellophane

About Me

Cellophane became a band in 1995 after Shannon Crawford (vocals) convinced Ross Robinson to produce their demo. Shannon met Ross at a Korn show, and Ross agreed after hearing a demo that Shannon had previously made. Shannon had been friends with Korn since high school in Bakersfield CA. Ross suggested that bass player Doug Ardito, and drummer Mark Bistany work with Shannon on this demo, the chemistry was amazing, and thus Cellophane was created. John Chase from El Magnifico, came in during the session to lay down some guitar tracks, adding the missing ingredient. Cellophane was signed less than six months later, to Virgin Records. Virgin then suggested that producer Howard Bensen record the album. Suggestion meaning subtle demand. They finished the record, and began to tour. Opening for bands like Creed (.....yeah, yeah, we know) and Sevendust. Shannon acquired a stalker during the touring process, and that stalker tried to kill the band by cutting their brake line on their winnebago. That incident, as well as Shannon's youth, ego and alcoholism, inevitably lead to Shannon quitting the band. Doug went on to play bass for Puddle of Mudd, and Shannon continued to write music. Moke and John continued to play in various different projects. James "Munky" Shaffer has suggested we play the second stage on the Family Values Tour.
