cocktails, cooking, baking, food writing, knitting, home renovation, crafts, kids books, young adult fiction, music, perfume and perfume collecting, tv, movies, general random pop culture knowledge including but thankfully not limited to gossip mags/blogs and Entertainment Weekly.
crappy pop music as seen on Time-Life collections of the 70s, Lyle Lovett, Peter Bjorn and John, Lily Allen, Tom Waits, Fountains of Wayne, Johnny Cash, The Carter Family, Townes Van Zandt, Neil Diamond (shut up, he's awesome and sparkly), alt-country as a general genre, the song stylings of Christopher Guest and friends.
I have a total comedian crush on Will Ferrell and Steve Carrell. Also, Wes Anderson and Owen "Butterscotch Stallion" Wilson. Say what you will about his tomcatting around strip joints, boy can write a script.
I am still and probably always will be, obsessed with Turner Classic movies. The indomitable Rosalind Russell and her fabulous outfits at all hours of the day! Who doesn't love that?
Can't go wrong with any movies featuring Christopher Guest.
Coen Brothers, esp. Big Lebowski. In fact, I could go for a white russian right around now.
The Office, How I Met Your Mother, Amazing Race, Project Runway, American Idol Also, Good Eats, America's Test Kitchen, This Old House, Law and Order Criminal Intent (Chris Noth!), The Tick, HGTV and their crack-like programming.
Kids books and YA in general including but not limited to: Kieran Scott, Lauren Myracle, John Green, Maureen Johnson, Ellen Raskin, Eva Ibbotson.
Adult books are tougher... I like mostly non-fiction (specifically food writing--Anthony Bourdain, Jeffery Steingarten, M.F.K. Fischer, Julia Child--also, perfume writing, how-to DIY craft and building stuff). Within fiction, Jasper Fforde, Faulkner, Hemingway, trashy romance novels and the like.
Norm Abram, Jeff Lebowski, Julia Child
