Bringing quality drum and bass and a genuinely positive attitude to the Philly scene since 2005.
Created by DJ Pos and Tecnotic, supported by DJ Self, Jimmy The Kid, Synikal, Miss Behave, Hidro. In association with Light It Up Productions. Formerly in association with Tru Skool Productions and Jameson(r) brand Irish whisky (sike).
This is the story of the beginning of the 12-Step Crew:
[Scene: Rowdy, fall 2005, @the bar]
DJ Pos: Shit, what's a junglist gotta do to get a fuckin beer up in this bitch?!
[enter Tecnotic]
Tecnotic: Excuse me...I see you at 611 all the time, are you a dj?
Pos: Why yes, yes I am. I've been spinning drum and bass for about three years.
Tecnotic: Me too. I mostly spin liquid, but I have a little bit of everything. Listen, me and my boy DJ Self [indicates DJ Self, who is jammin to the beats] are having a party at my house in South Jersey tomorrow night. You should come, and bring your vinyl.
Pos: Um, okay, that sounds good.
[They exchange phone numbers. Everyone rocks out]
The precise content of this dialogue may have been altered in transcription slightly due to the fact that all parties involved were ridiculously drunk at the time, but the gist is 100% accurate. That was all it took. For real.
We wear our love for the music on our sleeves. You're as likely to see us at other people's events as at our own, and we never stop bobbing our heads to the beat. We are constantly working to improve our skills as djs and we dig for hours on end to find the records that will blow everyone's minds. Cause - let's face it - all we really want is to communicate our enthusiasm to all y'all. See what we see, hear what we hear, feel what we feel, and stand up and dance all night to the shit we're throwin down! We are wholly dedicated to uniting the Philly scene and pushing everyone to rise above the bullshit and remember why we're all here in the first place: THE FUCKIN MUSIC.
