Born and bred in Wellington, NZ, Leah Hutchison is a singer/songwriter influenced by lots of tunes we generally call acoustic music. Her first EP 'born to be' was created when a few friends got together with a desire to support Wellington music (love that Capital City!) Leah has played at local festivals and has also featured on local radio - live, loud and local - loving it! Someone once said her style reflects the raw emotion of Ricki Lee Jones and the casual melodies of Sheryl Crow... good going... nice work! In 2002 Leah was part of the band called 'austin' and was the main song writer for the acoustic trio. The lead singer - daniel bell - went on to star in the one and only NZ Idol *oh come on, denial is bad for your mental health... you came... you saw... you voted... - build a bridge!* and that left Leah at home alone, knitting socks for winter (it gets kinda cold in NZ)! With all the verve, vitiosity (it's a word, look it up) and vim (i know it's sounds like something my mum use to clean the bathroom with... but it's also a word, look it up) she could muster Leah set about writing a few ditties.
