About Me
hi!
Well in Nick. First lets go back a little...
I was born in Melbourne many moons ago and have lived all over this fine city. I have experianced a lot in my time and hope that i am all the better for it but am still trying to figure out where the lessions i have learnt are leading me.
The saving grace of my life has been to find music and all it has to offer. I remember going to buy my first 2 tapes when i was about 11. Public Enemy-Apocolips Now and RHCP What Hits! I was never one to red or listen to music much at that stage as i used to spend all my spare time playing basketball. After listening to those till they chewed in my tapeplayer i didnt buy much till Nirvana Nevermind and The doors Greatest hits a few years later. But music didnt really soak in till a friend of mine and i started listening to techno at his place. We had a cd player and a turntable and he had lots of it on cd and a few records. We were so amazed and bemused by this sound we went to the length of cutting between the cd and rec player randomly till something sounded vaguely good. which it rarely did:).
Cut to me 19, Living in a little house in thornbury, with the school mate and about 15 people who used to use my couch in rotation to sleep on. I bit the bullit and bought my first set of turntables and a mixer before i even had any records (planned on using my housemates to start with). From that point till very recently the focus of my life has been to purchase listen dj and dance to the finest music i can find. I used to spend upto 12 hours a day practising mixing records and it has lead me to some of the highlights of my life.
After doing a ffew housepartys here and there a mate asked me if i would lend him my mixer if he gave me a set at a party. i gladly obliged at which point i found out that it was a NYE party outdoors in the middle of the city! I played from 3-430 to nearly 10000 people! It was a high i have yet to experiance in the same way again. So that sent me on my way. Since then i have played at bars and clubs like(in some sort of order) The Black Cat, Ginger Bar, The Night Cat, The Marques of Lorn, The Croft Institute, The Lounge, Lott33 (in canberra), Vinyard, Veludo, Transpor Bar, Taxi Dining Room, Lower house, Lounge Down stairs and many more that cant remember right now! I have also hosted a radio show on Street Fm called the Soul Proprietiors! It ran for three years every wednesday arvo 4-6. I loved that show and its limited audiance greatly. When that station wound up i then went on to play regular stops on Kiss Fm for club lunch, which was full circle for me as kiss was a large part of me loving dance music so much to start with.
These days my focus has shifted a little and i am back at school studying work in hospitals and am taking a break from th ewhole music thing to try and settle my life down a bit and find a base to launch myself back into music bigger and better than before.
Whos knows whats next but one thing i do know is that my life is never dull and i know the next big thing is right around the corner:)
