About Me

Has a lean but well-defined physique with good chest thickness, developed arm muscles, V-shaped torso, good bubble and knotted calves … Has very good timed speed and sudden quickness to close on the ball … Shows excellent agility and balance on the move with the hip flexibility to redirect and change direction suddenly … His natural explosion allows him to stay tight on the hip of the receivers in the deep secondary and he will deliver his hits with good pop … Instinctive player who is more field smart than academically proficient … Physical hitter who loves contact … Hard worker in the training room, the type who pushes other players … Is often around the ball, playing with reckless abandon … Has the foot speed and steady acceleration to close on the ball in a hurry … Does a good job of distributing his weight throughout his backpedal … Pedals with ease and shows the body control flexibility to quickly redirect … Usually in good position to make the hit, keeping the plays in front of him … Plays alert in the zone and shows good route awareness … Consistently attacks the ball and shows steady acceleration and timing in his leaps … Has the valid foot speed to play the two-deep and the burst needed to run the field … Makes plays on the ball in the air due to his big vertical jump and natural hands to pluck the ball outside his frame … Does a good job of attacking the gaps in run support and he shows good urgency to close, taking proper angles … Even though he lacks ideal bulk, he is an explosive hitter … Works his way through blocks and will meet the ball carrier with good force at the line of scrimmage … Collision type of a tackler who likes to run through people, but will miss a few hits when he fails to wrap … Can press and shadow well in the short area, allowing little separation on vertical routes … Breaks from his backpedal with no wasted motion … Short strider who runs hard to accelerate … Does a decent job of cutting off the lead blockers angles on perimeter runs … Has an explosive break to the ball, even on three-step throws … Has the burst and elevation in his leaps to excel as a kick blocker. Has adequate bulk on his frame, but shows good arm length and big hands to grab and take down ball carriers … Has excellent explosion coming out of his stance and the speed to stay with receivers in man coverage … His lack of size for a linebacker, along with his quickness, feel for working in the zone and depth he gets in his pass drops reminds some of former Dallas Cowboy Darren Woodson, and some experts feel that Durant could be converted into a safety at the next level or be utilized as a weakside outside linebacker in a Cover-2 scheme to compensate for his size and bulk issues at the line of scrimmage … Shows decent knee bend in attempts to play off blocks and redirect to the ball … High-energy type and unquestioned team leader who not only works on all areas of his game to improve, but is a good spark for his teammates to emulate … Relies on quickness to make plays on the move, as his weight room strength does not translate to the football field … Very decisive in his movements, as he keeps his pad level proper to stay low in pursuit, quickly bursting past the trash while knifing into the backfield … Has a very good feel for blocking schemes and is alert to pre-snap movement … Is quick to read, react and track the ball in flight … Compensates for his size issues by taking good angles in pursuit on inside run plays … Very good hustle-and-pursue type, especially coming from the back side … Adequate downhill player who lacks the bulk to take on blockers at the point of attack, but shows quickness to avoid … Has enough upper-body strength to re-route tight ends and backs in the short area or stack and control against the smaller single blockers … Has the acceleration to make the extended run to haul down ball carriers at the opposite end of the field … Shows good balance slipping off blocks and plants his foot in the ground firmly to take on the lead blocker and impede the running game directed at him … Has the speed to shadow the receiver on deep routes and does a decent job of opening his hips through transition (gets better depth when he flips his hips) … Times his leaps well and uses his long arms to reach around the receiver in attempts to deflect the pass … Lacks natural hands, but is efficient catching balls outside his frame … Has great chase speed moving in the open field and the acceleration to make plays at the opposite end … Stays tight with the receivers on crossing patterns and is effective at maintaining position and diagnosing the plays sharply to break down in the open … His aggressiveness and low pad level allows him to be adequate blitzing off the edge (gets bounced around too much working inside) … Comes out of his breaks cleanly and has the change-of-direction agility to give long chase to the ball … Not used much as a blitzer, unless he has a free path to the ball, but has an efficient swim move to play off blocks, redirect and push the pocket … Can also contribute on special teams … His open-field acceleration is evident by his ability to redirect the outside runner and then shadow his man to neutralize the cutback lanes.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

While his frame can certainly use additional bulk, he has a long, lanky frame with good overall muscle tone, tight waist, defined shoulders and low body fat … Shows very good field savvy and vision, as he is alert to coverages and has a knack for executing head fakes and generating enough hip wiggle to elude after the catch … Smooth open-field runner who might lack timed speed, but has the change-of-direction agility, balance and body control to make proper adjustments to get to off-target throws … Shows good hip flexibility and knee bend to plant and drive out of his cuts … Has the ability to take plays from the chalkboard to the playing field … Excels at making adjustments according to what the defense gives him, and is alert to coming back when the quarterback is pressured … Is best when given room to get into his routes, but has the movement skills and hand/eye coordination to separate after the catch … His long stride makes him look a bit slow coming off the line, but he can accelerate out of his breaks and is smart enough to gear down and time his leaps to get to the short-area throws … Usually crisp when trying to cut … His body control is evident when he runs disciplined patterns … Does a very good job of sitting down underneath and knows where the chains are … He can find the sticks and maintains eye contact so he knows where the cornerback is positioned … Better when utilizing his moves to elude rather than to trying to generate a second gear that is lacking … Natural ball catcher who will extend and reach away from his frame … Catches with ease when he goes for the ball and shows good hand strength to secure the ball before turning up field … While he can use more bulk, he is effective at using his body to shield defenders and shows no flinch going for the pass in a crowd, even when he knows the defender is going to deliver a crunching hit … Will assert himself well to combat for the jump balls … Has just adequate deep speed, but tracks the ball well in flight and can sneak up on a lethargic defender and separate … Very effective at tracking the ball over his outside shoulder … Is more of a build-up speed-type of runner, but demonstrates good concentration to look the ball in … Very smooth making twisting moves to get to the off-target throws while maintaining his stride … Won't put on the afterburners to separate after the catch, but has enough lower-body strength to break the initial tackle … His shake and loose hips lets him gain positive yardage up the seam … Puts in the extra hours after practice and is known to spend considerable time in the film room … Does a nice job of locating defenders on the field and knows how to settle into the field's soft areas … Showed improvement using his frame to shield defenders from the ball in 2006.
