Jim Hemmingfield

About Me

Jim Hemmingfield was formed in the 9 months prior to August 1980. His first appearance was not a poetry reading but a performance where he appeared, covered in blood and goo, screaming. It was another 21 years before he began to put his thoughts into some sort of 'poetic' format, and roughly another 24 before he started reading these so-called poems in front of an audience. Since then Jim Hemmingfield has performed at a number of gigs in his home town of Sheffield and, more regularly, in the city of York where he now resides. He would be happy to appear anywhere else where people would have him.
Jim Hemmingfield does not like to discuss his poetry, or the themes therein; he would rather you read or listened to it for yourself, and then you could make your own mind up. If you want a little bit more information then that, here is what York's 'The Talk' magazine had to say about his appearance, in March 07, supporting legendary punk TV Smith: '...Poet Jim Hemmingfield, a skinny lad with lank blonde hair and quite a charming presence. Some of his unflinching observations on everyday grimness hit the mark, but he was at his best recounting painfully honest tales of times out with mates.'
You can buy a booklet of Jim's Poems for 3 Great British Pounds by either sending him a myspace message or getting in touch at [email protected]. Anyone who would like to book Jim Hemmingfield as a performer can also get in touch via the same mediums.
Here is a (bad) picture of the booklet...
ps. Jim Hemmingfield appears to have started to refer to himself in the third person... it's the first sign of madness, y'know.
