About Me

Like many a DJ before him, Ian Gillespie was swept away when he discovered dance music, the combination of a passion for the music and an interest in how DJs made their music seem seamless, inspired him. Having a father and uncle who themselves were DJ's helped, by using his uncles set up and records Ian caught the bug and soon buying records became a regular past time.During his college years Ian heard of a DJ competition that was held for students across the south coast, not thinking too much of it, he entered and to his own surprise reached the final. Ian was up against some good talent, 4 DJs from different colleges all with their own sound and crowd to support. Having played a profound set, there was still a sense that he was not quite good enough to win, to his surprise Ian was announced the winner, having never been big headed and always respecting others talent, it was time for Ian to accept that he was fast becoming a gifted DJ.With new levels of passion, Ian threw himself into DJing, honing his skills and promoting with an old school friend Jon Gurd (former Slinky, now Clubclass resident and producer). Whilst spending more time researching his sound, Ian found new music that quenched his DJ desires. Techno was the music that took control of his bank account, so much to offer, altered sounds, deviating beats and a diverse energy. In 2004 a local night 'Punchfunk' had just started out. Ians unique sound was exactly what PunchFunk was all about and he was booked to play his first set for PunchFunk in January 2005.Having been recognised as a future talent, Ian was signed to the PunchFunk agency. After the success of working for PunchFunk, Ian decided to enter another DJ competition, Vinyl Meltdown has been Portsmouths premier DJ comp for 5 years, the winners going on to become talent recognised all over the country (Darren Crook 2002 - Ministry of Sound/Defected, PJ Davy 2003 featured on James Zabiela and Nic Fancuili Renaissance Albums, Chris Vaux founder of PunchFunk), Ian reached the final but did not win!Since being signed to Punchfunks agency Ian has played along side some of the worlds biggest and best DJ's. In Feb 2005 Ian played alongside legendary Techno Hero Colin Dale. April 2005 saw Ian warm up for yet another wordwide Techno legend Dave Angel and in September 2005 alongside Justin Robertson & more recently alongside Tim Sheridan in October 2006.In May 2006 Ian played on the Punchfunk outdoor soundstage at one of the biggest summer festivals of the year HI:FI, run by Godskitchen and in July 2006 Ian played on the Punchfunk outdoors stage at Global Gathering. Ian has featured on Jon Gurds Bass for Breakfast show on www.protonradio.com and Rob Mooneys mercury sessions show.Ian has also had bookings from the well established Release & the hugely sucessfull Gueshky, run by Ian Void, where Ian warmed up for one of Italy's biggest imports Marco Lenzi in February 2007.Ian recently finished his first track 'Numen' with DJ and Producer Rich Jones. He is also currently working on productions with long time friend and DJ buddy Danny G, IDJ Magazines 'Raw talent' winner June 2006! Get your own free cool template at MySpace Layouts
