here's my story:
was born in Salinas, CA in 1973. Only one in my family born in the US so i lived a migrant childhood. I worked alongside my mother up and down the great central valley. When i wasn't working, i was back in Michoacan getting the best education Mexico has to offer. After years of hard work, we settled in on the San Francisco Bay area. In 1985, my mom passed away and my dad moved us back to Salinas. I say us because i'm the eldest of three. There i proceeded to be the first in my family to graduate from High School in 1991. I then enrolled at Hartnell Community College were i was involved in many social movements, such as co-founder of the Salinas Chapter of the Brown Berets, MEChA, and a little known teatro group called LOS ILLEGAL COMEDY. I finished community college and proceeded to CSU, Monterey Bay. It was here that i met the love of my life, Julie Juarez. I graduated from CSUMB in the spring of 1999 with a BA in Visual and Public Arts. In 2000, me and Julie moved back to her hometown of Bakersfield. Since then i have worked for CHW Mercy Hospital's Department of Special Needs and the Dolores Huerta Foundation. I have a wonderful daughter, Nayeli whom brings sunshine and happiness in to my life every single day. I have also kept strong social beliefs in this community as well. I currently sit on the Richard Prado East Bakersfield Senior Center Board of Directors and was a previous commisioner on the Kern County Aging and Adult Commission. And the saga continues.......maybe city council. que no?!!
