Uncarved Blocks

About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.1Uncarved Blocks is a birmingham based free alternative music magazine. The idea for Uncarved Blocks took shape as a response to being bombarded by bland, over-hyped artists with a lack of talent and ego's the size of their publicity budgets. We were tired of knowing that there are artists out there making sublime music that is falling largely on deaf ears because the majority of record companies and the media won’t align themselves with artists with an original vision. We decided it was time to get off the sofa and take some direct action. This site will be dedicated to all those obscure bands and musicians that we love, whether they are just starting out or are unsung heroes, in the hope that we can make a difference, however small. If we can show people that there is more out there than what they see advertised on TV or in their local Tesco for £9.77, then we will have done what we set out to do. We don’t believe in hyping bands because they fit in with current trends or pigeonholing music into genres, we just believe in promoting good music. If you are a band/label and you want us to do a review send us a message or come and be our friends in cyberspace....
