Guitar Slinger & Waffle House King

About Me

Michael David "Dave" Hasty was born and raised in Resaca, Georgia and still calls Georgia home even though he resides in Kentucky presently. Being a multi-instrumentalist, he started learning piano at the age of nine, graduated to guitar at the age of eleven and eventually picked up on several other instruments including bass and drums throughout his teen years. When he was fourteen years old he was a roadie and friend for a popular regional act called White Water Junction and from them he learned a lot about being onstage and touring, not to mention meeting country stars such as Charlie Daniels, Steve Warnier, Eddie Raven and others. He started performing professionally at the age of sixteen with Alabama famed country singer Dennis Holt and was the lead guitarist from 1983-1987. From 1987 to 1990 he became a referred musician on the Nashville Musicians List and in the Musicians Union. At twenty years old Dave was hanging out and becoming friends with some of the best musicians Nashville had to offer, which led him to the stage with Ricky Van Shelton, Holly Dunn, Dolbie Grey, Brenda Lee, Dottie West and many others. From 1990-1992, Dave played bass guitar in a very popular house band in Dalton, Georgia called the Road House Romeos. The band was set to record in Nashville after famed producer Neal James heard the bands original songs, but after creative differences the band split up and left Dave heading back to Nashville to record his own songs. Producer Neal James had worked with Hank Cochran, Merle Haggard, Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Paycheck, Willie Nelson and many others. He recorded at famed Creative Recording (Brent Maher: The Judd's) with Neal James producing and Steve Tillisch engineering. There at the studio on the walls were hundreds of autographs of entertainers that had recorded there and he proudly signed his name right next to a favorite vocalist of his Wynonna Judd. The musicians on the recordings included Michael Young: Drums and Russ Pahl: Acoustic Guitar- from the band "Great Plains" who also recorded with Michael Johnson, Gary Morris, Mark Knopfler, Dickey Betts and Don Williams; Buddy Emmons: Steel Guitar- who created Sho-Bud Steel Guitar company and was a renowned studio musician; Mike Chapman: Bass Guitar- who recorded with Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney, Martina McBride and many others; Barry "Byrd" Burton: Lead Guitars- from the band "Amazing Rhythm Aces" and was a renowned session musician; Rod Smarr: Lead Guitars- from the band "Dr. Hook" and was a renowned session musician; John Barlow Jarvis: Piano- from the "Rod Stewart" band in 1974 to recordings with Vince Gill, Brooks and Dunn and many others; Steve Nathan: Keyboards- was a renowned studio musician recording with Alabama and so many others; The famous Carol Lee Singers (Carol Lee, Dennis McCall, Norah Lee Allen and Rod Fletcher): Backing Vocals- "The Grand Old Opry singers". After dealing with the major record labels for months and figuring out that they might not be wanting the next outlaw country star, he packed his things and headed back home to Georgia vowing not to play music again. After reconsidering his options in the summer of 1994 and recieving a music business degree, he would then know what it would take to get a record deal. He joined forces with his childhood friend John Barton to form a band that would eventually start the "rockabilly" movement in Atlanta, Georgia and later to college towns across the southern states with the likes of Sonny Burgess (Sun Records), Rosie Flores, Dave Alvin, Buddy Miller, James Burton (Elvis & Ricky Nelson), Billy Lee Riley (Sun Records), Ray Harris (Sun Records), Malcolm Yelvington (Sun Records), Charlie Feathers, Southern Culture On The Skids, The Cherry Poppin' Daddies and many others. In 1996, shortly after performing at a packed club during the Centinnial Park bombing "Fred Nash" recorded their debut album and landed a recording contract with Hightone Records. In the mist of all the excitement, the drummer of the band quit for reasons unknown and the band struggled for several more years trying to find a replacement but never did find the right musician to fill the vacancy. The band finally called it quits in 1999. From 1999-2005, Dave spent much of his time writing songs and recording in studios as a session musician in Atlanta, Georgia. He now resides in Kentucky and is lead guitarist for "Wanted", who are working towards getting a tour together to support their debut cd in the near future. real editor best profile tools real editor best profile tools
