With a passion for music, smooth vocals, honest lyrics and a simple 6 string guitar, Ky Graton of Welland, Ontario is armed with all the materials he needs to bring new sound to the world of music.
"I've been in music for about 2 years now, and it's totally mind-blowing" says Ky. "I have a lot of fun writing music. Nothing can express more clearly my emotions and thoughts more than a song written by my own hand".
..And it shows in his songs that explore various emotions with equal amounts of innocence and maturity. "I'm young. I'm really just looking to have some fun."
Ky says that while he is inspired everyday by friends, family and local musicians, Canadian artists like Neil Young, Hayden and Leonard Cohen have also contributed greatly in his desire to create music. He states his appreciation for Country icon Johnny Cash and how he admitted what he desired even if it made him look like the bad guy.
Ky classifies his sound as melodical-accoustic, and although the genre typically carries a softer sound with sometimes intense emotion, he stresses that "not all of my songs are products of sadness. Some of them are happy too.I like to write about happyness. I'm a happy guy. hahaha"
In general, Ky says it is his dream to be an artist, and so long as there are people out there to listen and watch he will keep creating. "I'd like to make a 6 song CD soon. If it's a flop, who cares. I'm never going to improve if I don't put my stuff out there".
With this in mind, Ky welcomes any opinions the public may have and encourages an open-mind when listening to his tunes. As he plans to perform more live local shows, Ky says he hopes to see some new faces and adds "time will tell where I end up.".
