a family card game

A family card game has been together for approximately three years, starting as a first time band for all three members, nearing the end of our high school careers. The band consists of Ramon 'Biceps' Bartholomeusz on bass guitar, Billy 'Brawn' Horn on guitar and Rory 'Tall as Five Stories' Kennett-Lister on drums. (For all you trivia junkies the inspiration for the band name came in the form of a pack of Uno cards).
The are many factors influencing the sound of the band, such as the musical training of each member, as well as a large variety of band and musical interests. Although not derivative of any one band, bands such as The Smashing Pumpkins, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, The White Stripes, The Chili Peppers, The Mars Volta, Primus, Led Zeppelin and of course, the skilled composers of the Italia Ceramics advertisement theme tune are all influences in some way.
When writing and performing songs, as a band, we try to focus on the unconventional unexpected changes, alternative time signatures, and improvisation by all three members of the band. As well as improvisation during our structured songs, free-flowing jams with no preplanned structure are an integral part of the band, allowing for egos to be satisfied and for Ramon to play slap. Although it has been a challenge to transfer all of this to a recording (especially symbiotic improvisation), we believe these songs give a successful indication of the band and its direction.
